April - Tignes at it's best |
What is Tignes like in April?
One of Tignes best kept secrets is simply going there in April. There are many advantages with few drawbacks. If you look at the snow depth table below you can see over that April has the highest average on the upper slopes & the lower slopes are comparable to that in February. (averages taken over 3 years - from the web site www.weather.co.uk )
The Weather is usually a lot warmer. This has the advantage of lots of beautiful days and lots of lovely long hours of 'apres ski' sat in the sun. This does mean lower south facing slopes can get slushy in the afternoon however if you plan your day to get higher later, you can stay in good conditions all day. The slopes are also a lot quieter.
Flight Prices & accommodation are generally a lot cheaper for this period.
