April - Tignes at it's Best

One of Tignes best kept secrets is simply going there in April. There are many advantages with few drawbacks. Traditionally after Easter most people in the UK assume the season is as good as over & that the snow won’t be very good – neither of which are further from the truth. If you look at the below table you can see over the past three seasons April has the highest average on the upper slopes & the lower slopes are comparable to that in February. (averages taken over 3 years  - from the web site www.weather.co.uk )

Flight  prices are another very big advantage . Prices from most airports/airlines are a lot cheaper than for the rest of the year. It is highly advisable to book flights as soon as you can as they will increase sharply as the date approaches.

The Weather can generally be a lot warmer; you are highly likely to come home golden brown or bright red if you forget that sun cream. This has the advantage of lots of beautiful days and lots of lovely long hours of 'apres ski' sat in the sun. However it does mean lower south facing slopes can get slushy by late afternoon, so plan your day to get higher later and you’ll be fine. The slopes in general are a lot quieter.

Accommodation is also far cheaper and you can get a lot more for your money. We can offer you Catered accommodation from £164 or there is Self Catering from £250 for a 4 person studio apartment.

All in all you can get a great holiday in April without compromising snow conditions, think ahead and get your flights booked in advance to ensure you don't miss out the best deals.
