Level 1
Getting taught the right way the first time means you will have the foundations to
continually progress without reaching a plateau. Our system is based on strong
posture and simple movements of the feet. Why work hard when you don’t have
to?
Level 2
Once you’ve mastered the basics it’s time to develop your riding by using
different turn shapes and speeds. This helps when learning to ride the flat
sections and getting used to riding steeper slopes. Flatland Freestyle is a big
focus too. This is not only fun, but will give you the balance and agility to take
your riding to the next level. Yes.. it looks good too!
Level 3
This can be a plateau for some people. Alliance instructors will give you the tools
to get through this stage. Opening your mind to the use of pressure to influence
your turn shape and the ability to ride the more challenging terrain in resort.
Powder, steeps, park and even moguls.
Level 4
Here we cover all aspects of riding. Carving, steeps, flatland, switch, off piste
and freestyle. You will understand all the elements of snowboard technique and
know how to blend them to create your own desired outcome. Park and powder
will play a dominant role in these courses, depending on snow and weather
conditions. |

Freestyle Sessions
Alliance run special freestyle weeks throughout the season. These weeks will
focus purely on park and flatland, coached safely and progressively throughout
the week. Our instructors don’t just chant your name till you huck yourself off
something, but give encouragement and build your confidence safely with easy,
manageable steps.
Intro to freestyle. These sessions will bring
intermediate riders into the park to work on :
- green and blue kickers
- solid straight airs
- shiftys
- grabs
- simple boxes.
Advanced park weeks will focus on :
- spins on the blue kickers
- grabs on the red kickers
- butters on blue boxes
- board slides on red boxes and rails.

Freeride Sessions
Getting into the back country is really what snowboarding is all about. The
sensation of floating on fresh powder is probably the greatest feeling possible.
On our freeride programs you will be given all the correct safety equipment and
shown how to use it. The correct technique is also essential when drawing
smooth stylish lines in the snow with your board. There’s definitely more to it
than “just lean back”!
Intro to freeride is really designed to build your understanding of freeride
technique and the hazards of the mountain environment. We will access some of
the classic routes of the Espace Killy and leave you begging for more. Solid
intermediate on piste standard necessary.
Advanced freeride weeks are designed for people who are looking to up the ante
by riding and hiking some of the more gnarly lines in resort. Couloirs and steep
tree runs are the order of the day. We will also look for rock drops, small cliffs
and dabble in some back country freestyle. By the end of this course you will
truly feel that you are riding the whole mountain. Advanced on piste level
necessary.
